A SERIES OF FILMS ABOUT CANCER, TREATMENT AND SURVIVORSHIP

This year we are proud to be starting work on a series of films about cancer in general, and Head and Neck Cancer in particular. Head & Neck Cancer is a somewhat overlooked part of the cancer spectrum, yet it affects growing numbers of people very year, not just in the UK, but worldwide.

We will be working with some of the leading organisations that provide support for sufferers, companies that research new and innovative treatments, individuals who campaign for better public awareness of this debilitating illness, and looking at the different ways in which the disease is treated around the world.  Every cancer patient has a story to tell of his or her own individual journey as they fight to get better, and we will be privileged to meet some of the most courageous and determined survivors. Some are outspoken campaigners for better treatments and greater public awareness, others are quietly waging their own battle against the illness, but each one is unique.

We will also be travelling to some of the world’s most prestigious treatment centres, where on-going research is helping to develop new ways of treating Head and Neck Cancer, and providing solutions for those who have survived their treatment, but continue to suffer from side-effects, the most common of which is Xerostomia – or ‘Dry Mouth’ as it is better known.

Working with our clients and partners we will be producing films for both clinicians and patients, and we hope to do our part in raising public awareness of this particular form of cancer.

Fast Plane (not a slow boat) to China!

SAMfilms are pleased to announce that we will be working on the Miss World 2015 pageant, to be held in Sanya, China. It’s our fourth year on this amazing production, and we’ll be heading off soon. Looking forward to meeting all the team again, including Julia Morley, Steve, Dave, Kerry, Andrew, Donna and the rest of the MW family who work so hard on this show.

Miss World has changed greatly over the years, and is now primarily a charity-based event. Beauty with a Purpose has raised millions of pounds for good causes, and we’re proud to be associated with it. It’s worth taking a look!

We’ll still be contactable via email, and promise to reply – we’ll not be soaking up the sun all day. Promise!

Back in Lancaster

The SAMfilms team were out in force at this year’s Lancaster Music Festival. The whole event was bigger than ever – with even more acts and venues. We filmed many of the acts, not just at the Castle, but out and about in the town.
Special thanks to Amii Priestly and Matthew Hesmondhalgh who joined us from Blackpool Sixth Form College for three days. What a great pair of students, and we enjoyed having them there as much as they (hopefully) enjoyed being there.
We were aided by the wonderful team of lads from West Coast Hire & Events who provided the stage, sound and lighting, by Chris Selkirk from Lancaster Castle, and – as always – the LMF team led by Ben Ruth.

Also, well done to all the Newcastle Pride Team who keep this great free event going. We’re already looking forward to nest year!

SAMfilms & Elvis Presley ….live in Blackpool!

ELVIS 2 SAMfilms is delighted to be providing multi-camera live event coverage for the 2015 ‘Europe’s tribute to Elvis’ organised by Tees Events, and held every year at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens.

This event will feature the Ultimate Elvis preliminary contest, the winner of which will represent Europe’s Tribute to Elvis in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest finals in Memphis in 2015.

The festival will also feature Elvis themed shows, including some of the world’s best Elvis tribute artists gracing the stage in the The Empress Ballroom. Plus there will be special guests, merchandise stalls, after-show private parties, raffles and much more. Steve and Sue Horn for Tees Events will be creating a world class event honouring everything that Elvis Presley stood for.

We’re all looking foward to this event, we’ll be wearing our blue suede shoes, and hoping that we’re all shook up by the end of it! We’ll be posting again soon with a little less conversation…elvis

The Height of Fashion…

Just returned from a very enjoyable day filming a charity fashion show for Trinity Hospice at the Marine Hall in Fleetwood. Three different local charities took part in the show, with dozens more local organisations exhibiting as part of the Wyre Community Together Project. We had a four-camera shoot and Chris is now hard at work on both a short film to show the highlights of the day, and a longer version for those who want to re-live the entire event. Thanks to Jack Kelly and Ellie Singleton who were part of the production team. Glad to support the great work done by Trinity Hospice, nad more details about their work are available at: www.trinityhospice.co.uk

On the Election trail…

SAMfilms have been busy working on an exciting new project that culminated with over 25 hours of continuous filming starting at 0630 on the 7th May – General Election day. We’ll be releasing much more information about the project shortly, but we needed to follow all the candidates standing for the parliamentary election in Blackpool South.
A big thank you to our team, which included Ellie Singleton, Jack Kelly, Paul Withers, Michael Wiltshire, and Bryan Comley who kept an eye on all things technical.
Also many thanks to the generous candidates without whose help this film would not have been possible. Thanks to Peter Anthony from the Conservatives, Peter Wood for UKIP, Bill Greene for the Liberal Democrats, Duncan Royle for The Green Party, Andy Higgins for Football First, and Rob Wood for the Labour Party (on behalf of Gordon Marsden). Hopefully all the candidates are now taking a well-earned rest, as are we.
Congratulations to Gordon Marsden who retained the seat for Labour. Commiserations to Peter Anthony and the other candidates.

Come back soon for a major announcement about our film!

Wonderful crew as always with Jack Kelly, Matt Mcloughliin and Ash Scarisbrick on cameras, with Chris as supervisor, and Roger on the vision mixer. James Reay, Chelsea Stevens and Karen Carey on the stage! More details soon…

More for the future business seminar at Preston North End

Yesterday we had a great day at Preston North End Stadium for the final More for the Future conference at Preston North End’s football stadium. Sadly the last of it’s kind as the More project is coming to and end. A real shame, as the network has offered great advice from experts for SMEs like ours. Many great speakers present including Mary Murtagh and Dave Kirkwood, and all the More team, including the ever-cheerful Max Robotham. Let’s hope there’s another similar project up and running soon.
